It's the Final Week of Women's History Month!

Posted by Nicole James on

For our final week celebrating woman-owned businesses, we are doubling down and going local as well! First up is SOPE (Amalgamated Sope Company), owned & operated by Jen Elden here in Whitefish since 2010. She creates natural soaps & salves, plus body butter and an amazing Arnica roll-on. As Jen puts it, they use 'no unpronounceables'-- everything they make is almost edible! Not only that, she sources lots of local and sustainable ingredients, from wild-harvested Arnica flowers here at home to safflower oil from eastern Montana and shea butter from a women's co-op in Ghana. She even grows the calendula and comfrey for the incredible healing salves-- the Mini All-Purpose Salve is an excellent item to keep in your purse or car for healing on the go! We cannot recommend it enough.

This past year had us searching for a great local candle line. There are enough out there in mason jars so we were striving to carry something different. Enter: Kintla Candles! Angie Thomas in Kalispell has been making candles as a hobby since 1999, and during the pandemic she finally set out to make her dream a reality. Using American-farmed soy wax, cotton wicks, and clean phthalate-free fragrances, each handmade candle is adorned with a small amulet chosen to match the aroma and feel of the vessel; be it antler, crystal, wood, or small pressed flower, you are sure to be enchanted. Her 'Renewal' candle, with bright aloe & florals combined with an earthy scent base, is perfect for Spring.

Those of you who've been in the shop before may be familiar with our next line: The Myrtle Leaf. KayDel Shelton began formulating pure & natural face oils in 1998 with the idea of taking control of her skincare! Fast forward to today-- we have a hard time keeping her Rich Moisture Butter with CoQ10 on the shelf! She is committed to making small batches and using the freshest ingredients, as well as responding to new ingredient research and customer feedback. Using pure botanicals, The Myrtle Leaf wants to help everyone grow older with fresh, glowing skin!

Should you need a little something to snazz up your outfit, or simply desire a new bangle for your wrist, consider grabbing one of Sara Berweger's crowd-pleasing Flair Cuffs. Made with leather and an alloy of zinc, magnesium, aluminum & copper, this simple yet elegant design stays put on your wrist and won't tarnish. With several colors to choose from, each piece has a different embellishment to set it apart from the rest. Handmade with love in Kalispell for almost ten years!

If you still have a bare spot on your laptop or water bottle, Lex's Stickers are the perfect thing to fill in the blank. Designed by our daughter-in-law, she gussied up our shop logo several ways and used this beautiful state to inspire her for the rest-- a starry bear, holographic wolf, Glacier Park arrowhead and Whitefish, Montana colored with vintage hues.

Finally, we here at Sage & Cedar want to thank you all for supporting us all these years! As we head into our 28th, we just wanted to celebrate Women's History Month by highlighting some of the amazing women who work hard every day to give back to the rest of us. We hope that our shop can continue to inspire and support every single one of you trailblazers that come through the doors. Our final offering this month is our fabulous Ultimate Moisture Daily Body Lotion. Formulated with Jojoba, Avocado, Sunflower and Sesame oils to quench your skin, this lotion is full of skin-soothing botanicals and is the perfect medium weight for daily use and silky nourishment. Great as is, or custom-scented! It remains one of our original formulas, so not much has changed there over the years even as we continue to grow around it.

Thank you all again and here's to all of the courageous, kind, intelligent, and hard-working ladies throughout the world and throughout human history. Onwards and upwards!
